We have spent the first two and half years of our married life in St. Paul, MN.  Pierre has been working as a Mechanical Engineer while Kari has spent the last four growing seasons working on organic vegetable farms and the last two winters deicing airplanes at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport.  While our “cups runneth over” here in St.Paul, we have felt the pull to step back from our hectic lives and experience something completely different.  We were offered the position of winter caretakers at a remote homestead, three miles by boat, from the small village of False Pass, Alaksa.  This is where we plan to document our adventure, it’s joys and challenges, as we experience winter immersed in the beauty and wildness of Alaksa.
